ACADEMIC RECOGNITION

Letter Recognition
Academic Letter - Qualifications: 5 consecutive semesters of 3.5 GPA or higher
 
Scholar Athlete/Scholar Activities Chevron
Qualifications: 3.5 or higher during your season of sport. Winter sports use Spring Semester grades.
 
Academic Chevron
Qualifications: 3.5 or higher for a semester after the academic letter is earned for additional semesters of acadmeic excellence. No more than three chevrons awarded.
 
AP Scholar
Qualifications: 3.5 or higher for a semester after the academic letter is earned for additional semesters of academic excellence. No more than three chevrons awarded.
 
4.0 Academic Star
Qualifications: Awarded to students who have earned a 4.0 for two consecutive semesters within the same academic school year. No more than 4 stars will be awarded. 
 
 

ACADEMIC RECOGNITION EXPLANATIONS

 

Cum Laude 
These students have achieved an weighted total grade point average of at least 3.75 or above. They will be acknowledged in the Commencement Program and wear a gold stole in the graduation ceremony.

Principal’s Honor Roll
These senior students have achieved an overall grade point average between 3.50 -3.74.  They will be acknowledged in the Commencement Program and wear a gold cord in the graduation ceremony.

Honor Roll
These senior students have earned at least an overall grade point average between 3.00 - 3.49.  They will be acknowledged in the Commencement Program and wear a gold tassel in the graduation ceremony.

National Honor Society
Graduating seniors who are NHS members will wear a distinctive gold stole with NHS embroidered on the front. Students who join this national organization are recognized for possessing a GPA of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale.  Membership is based upon a student’s outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.  Once selected by the faculty council, a student is awarded membership at a special induction ceremony. Members are expected to perform community service. Questions about NHS membership may be directed to the NHS advisor.

California Scholarship Federation
Graduating seniors who are CSF members with four semesters of membership beginning with their first semester 10th grade and including one earned in 12th grade will receive a CSF seal on their diploma.  They will also be given a gold stole with CSF embroidered in the front. Students are encouraged to begin their membership in the second semester of their freshman year to form the habit of signing up each and every semester which they are eligible.  Qualifications for CSF are detailed in the student handbook/planner. Questions about CSF membership may be directed to the CSF advisor.

A-G Recognition
Graduating seniors who have completed all A-G requirements will be eligible to wear a white cord at graduation signifying this achievement. The requirements for A-G Completion are as follows: A - History/Social Science – Two years: B - English – Four years of college preparatory English :C - Mathematics – Three years of college-preparatory mathematics: D - Laboratory Science – Two years of laboratory science: E - Language Other Than English – Two years of the same language other than English: F - Visual and Performing Arts – One year chosen from dance, drama/theater, music or visual art: G - College-Preparatory Elective – One year chosen from the “A-F” courses.

AVID
A graduating senior who have completed all of the necessary requirements to complete 4 year within the AVID program.
